The genre was always a beautiful design but had the problem of being easily tipped over and feeling inadequate due to having no weight. In time weight was added for stability, but it’s rare to find chess sets of this time period that are weighted and felted like this. A beautiful design, a wonderful example of period chess sets. This is a reproduction, and comes with the love and care of modern day artisans. The set says ‘distinctive’ and ‘different’ throughout the design. If you need a board, try the B2008 or B2012 with 1.75 inch squares.
